We are heading back to the Dominican Republic. We have
agreed to a one year term where among other things Chris will be teaching the
engine repair class again. Cheryl will also be helping out at the college with
various duties.
You have likely heard the old adage “Give a man a fish and
he will eat for a day, but, teach him to fish and he will eat for a life time”.
I believe this goes further than that. They also need to have access to the
pond so they have a place to fish. It is
our hope that by teaching the people some basic skills for possible employment
or to start their own business we are giving them the opportunity to get out of
this generational poverty that they are trapped in.
We will be working with The Samaritan Foundation http://www.thesamaritanfoundationdr.com/.
The Samaritan Foundation is a Christian
organization that has been working in the Dominican Republic for 20+ years.
Along with helping the people find ways to get out of the poverty they are
trapped in we are also bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them. We hope to
show them that through Christ they have Hope for the present and for eternity.
Currently we are in the midst of our partner search looking
for prayer partners, encouragement partners, and financial partners. We have a
budget set at $4500/month to cover our travel, insurance, and living costs for
the year for the two of us and our daughter Jennifer. We would like to extend
an invitation to you to join us in this mission. Your commitment to partner
with us for $25, $50, $100 etc. per month will help to make it possible to
reach these goals as a team. Would you prayerfully consider joining this team?
