Missions Update

We give thanks to Thee, O God,
We give thanks,
For Thy name is near;
Men declare Thy wondrous works.
“When I select an appointed time,
It is I who judge with equity.”
Psalm 75: 1-2

God’s timing is always perfect, and knowing that, we are informing you that our departure date for the Dominican Republic has changed from May to July of 2016. The reason being that 75% of our funding has not yet been secured, and because of that, the Small Engine Repair Class that Chris will be teaching will not begin until August 15th. We have been asked to arrive no later than July 15th, so that we can get settled in (secure a vehicle, arrange for banking, etc.) and so that Chris can get things arranged for teaching his class.

God is good, and He provides. We are so thankful for that. At this time, we are 50% funded, and confident that it is God’s will that we join Him in the work He is doing in the Dominican Republic through the Samaritan Foundation. We thank Him for this opportunity, and you, for joining with us on this mission.

We would like to assure you that 100% of your support goes towards our needs (rent, groceries, utilities, vehicle expense, flights, insurance, etc. and classroom materials) in the Dominican Republic. There are no administration costs to cover; all missionaries working under the Samaritan Foundation are required to raise their own support.

This later departure date also gives Jennifer (age 12) the opportunity to enjoy Winkler Bible Camp with her best friend just before we leave for the year, and complete another level of swimming lessons, skills which will be beneficial as we will be living very close to the ocean, and she loves to swim!

We ask that you will join us in prayer as we continue to rely on God’s provision as we seek partners in this mission.  We are so thankful for God’s timing. He always provides just what we need, when we need it, as we rely on Him.

God Bless,
Chris and Cheryl Peters

We are heading back to the Dominican Republic. We have agreed to a one year term where among other things Chris will be teaching the engine repair class again. Cheryl will also be helping out at the college with various duties.
You have likely heard the old adage “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, but, teach him to fish and he will eat for a life time”. I believe this goes further than that. They also need to have access to the pond so they have a place to fish.  It is our hope that by teaching the people some basic skills for possible employment or to start their own business we are giving them the opportunity to get out of this generational poverty that they are trapped in.
We will be working with The Samaritan Foundation http://www.thesamaritanfoundationdr.com/.  The Samaritan Foundation is a Christian organization that has been working in the Dominican Republic for 20+ years. Along with helping the people find ways to get out of the poverty they are trapped in we are also bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them. We hope to show them that through Christ they have Hope for the present and for eternity.
Currently we are in the midst of our partner search looking for prayer partners, encouragement partners, and financial partners. We have a budget set at $4500/month to cover our travel, insurance, and living costs for the year for the two of us and our daughter Jennifer. We would like to extend an invitation to you to join us in this mission. Your commitment to partner with us for $25, $50, $100 etc. per month will help to make it possible to reach these goals as a team. Would you prayerfully consider joining this team?
